Dec 7: Community

Today’s Reverb 10 prompt asks: Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?

This year I discovered a whole new world.  A world of boldly spoken wishes magnified.  A world of creative adventuring together.  A world of dreams explored and expressed.  A world of creative vulnerability freely and joyfully shared.  A world of YAY-sayers, abundant huggers, and raw-and-wide-open-sharers.  Of world-changers, unconditional love-rs, and kindness spreaders.

It’s a magical world.  I had glimpses of it long ago, but only recently have I really dived in and embraced it.  It’s ever-shifting, ever-expanding, and full of the most brave, beautiful, tender souls I’ve ever met.  In this world you are not only accepted for who you are, you are embraced.  It doesn’t matter how dark a day you’re having, you will find a comforting word.  It doesn’t matter how huge a dream you’re dreaming in your secret heart, you will find a willing ear and abundant encouragement.

Some of us circle, others whisper wishes.  Some of us dance wildly together in person or in spirit.   We gather in our own ways, and each of us is altered by the gathering…we feel a little clearer, our stars burn a little brighter.  We breathe a little deeper and we open up a little more.  I am so unspeakably grateful to have found this community.  It seeps into my bones and opens my eyes and warms my heart.

In 2011 I would like to join, or create, a group with this same energy in real life.  Creative souls who meet and inspire each other.  People who shine brightly and encourage others to shine as well.  People who light up inside and pour their love out onto others.  I would love to meet some of my online community in person, but beyond that I would like to find kindred spirits who live in my city…or at least my province.
